We're here to give you a voice about Health & Social Care in Blackpool

Blackpool Community Cold Weather Plan

Blackpool Council has been awarded funding by the Department of Health to help keep vulnerable people safe and warm in their homes this winter. Over the next three months we want to make sure that those at risk have access to the information and practical help they need.

While the Council supports many vulnerable people in the Borough, there will be many others who may not be in touch with either us or any other support organisations. It is important that they know what to do to keep themselves warm and well and who to contact if there is a problem.

To do this effectively we need the help of local community, faith and voluntary groups to get information out to those that need it and to take responsibility for path clearing and gritting for those people who are unable to do it for themselves.

Any group which wants to get involved will receive advice on clearing and gritting steps and paths, some basic training in First Aid from the British Red Cross and an opportunity to receive some training on energy efficiency from National Energy Action. We also hope that the partnerships forged this winter will continue to be useful to all of us in the coming years.
